Heather Henson is an American contemporary puppet artist, the daughter of Jim Henson and Jane Henson.
"I have had the pleasure of knowing Alba both professionally and personally for many years.
During this time I’ve been overwhelmed by her passion, creativity, drive, and ability to lead others in realizing projects.
In 2018 she received a commission from the film wing of IBEX Puppetry to make a short puppet film entitled “ Dak' Toká Taíno ” or “I am Taino” about a young girl in Puerto Rico learning about her indigenous heritage in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria. The commission included use of my studio space for one week of building in addition to their four days of shooting, so I was daily witness and mentor through her first adventure in the use of live puppetry for film. It is a rare leader who can maintain an incredibly productive work environment that feels calm and controlled rather than hectic while simultaneously perpetuating positivity and collaboration amongst a company. That is precisely the environment Alba fostered. Alba’s leadership bottomless generosity, and attention to detail allows her to recognize and encourage the strengths of those around her, resulting in team members that felt empowered in their roles and that they were learning and growing in their fields. I’ve spoken with many of the individuals who I helped bring onto the production about their experience and they have all told me that is was one of the best sets they’ve ever been on.”
